I’ve been on a mini heater with my NFL best bets of late as I’m a combined 9-3 over the last three weeks.
In the Divisional Round, the 49ers, Jaguars and Bengals all got home for me while I foolishly tailed the Giants against the Eagles. I’ve got a pick for each of the two matchups this weekend in the AFC and NFC Championship Games.
Best Bets

1. 49ers +2.5
There are ample reasons to like the Eagles here. A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith could potentially dominate a mediocre 49ers secondary. The Eagles defense, particularly the front seven that sacked Daniel Jones five times last week, could finally force Brock Purdy into a bad game.
But my gut says San Francisco gets it done. That’s not very scientific, but we know the 49ers roster is loaded, and I’d give the 49ers the coaching edge as well with Kyle Shanahan and DeMeco Ryans.
I love the 49ers speed at linebacker with Dre Greenlaw and Fred Warner in order to negate some of Jalen Hurts’ running ability. I also think their offensive line will put up more resistance against Philly’s defensive front than New York’s did.
At the end of the day, I think this is a coin flip game, and you’ll likely feel like you were on the right side no matter how it finishes.
2. Bengals pick-em
I feel stronger about this pick. Cincinnati’s dominance in Buffalo coupled with Patrick Mahomes’ high-ankle sprain have me all in on the Bengals. I understand Mahomes’ showed up to practice without a limp on Wednesday, but I refuse to believe he’s 100%.
What impressed me most about the Bengals win against the Bills was that an offensive line full of backups didn’t just survive, it was a key cog in the victory. That should calm all worries of that group being Cincy’s Achilles heel.
On top of that, I’m happy to bet on Joe Burrow in a hostile road environment. It’s no accident that the Bengals have beaten the Chiefs three times over the last 13 months.
