2023 PGA Championship Golf Futures: Betting Odds to Win the Major Championship

The 87th Masters Tournament has come and gone, with Jon Rahm as the winner. However, Rahm will only be able to enjoy that green jacket for so long, as he’ll need to change back into his game-ready garb for PGA Championship in Oak Hill, New York, which takes place from May 18-21.

Below, we’ll look at the players inside the top-10 odds amongst a field of 101 expected participants and make some early predictions.

PGA Championship Predictions

Collin Morikawa

Finishing tied for 10th in the Masters and shooting -4, Morikawa is one of the best on tour regarding driving percentage, ranking just behind Russell Henley at 71.23%.

In the Masters, he shot under 70 in two straight rounds. In The Player Championship, he opened with a 65 before finishing tied for 13th.

Morikawa has never played at Oak Hill, but he’ll look to add his first win of the season and sixth all-time,

A win here would be his first since the Barracuda Championship during the 2018-2019 campaign.

Jon Rahm

It’s hard not to bet on one of the best golfers in the world who just happened to win The Masters.

While he ranks 76th in driving accuracy, which could help out at Oak Hill, Rahm has been on a tear this year with four wins and seven top-10 finishes. The 28-year-old from Spain has 11 career wins.

Justin Thomas

After outlasting Will Zalatoris last year, Thomas will look to repeat his 2022 success. This tournament will come just over a month after the Masters, and it’s safe to say that Thomas wants to perform better here than he did in pursuit of the green jacket, shooting +4 and missing the cut.

Ouch.

Zalatoris will be undergoing back surgery, so he’ll miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season, so that’s one golfer Thomas won’t need to be worried about as he looks to bounce back from what he referred to as a “sicko” appearance in the 2023 Masters Tournament.

Tiger Woods

Regardless of the tournament, we’ll always take a moment to explore Woods and where he’s at heading into whatever competition he plays in.

Headed into Oak Hill, Woods is +10000, and understandably so. Woods left the Masters Tournament early due to injury. However, over the 36 holes he played, he finished +3 despite being in “constant” pain.

It’s unclear whether he’ll play in the PGA Championship, but he’s always worth keeping tabs on.

Patrick Reed

Coming in at +5000 is Reed, who finished tied for fourth in the Masters Tournament, shooting a -7. Reed, a member of LIV Golf, will undoubtedly get another crack at a major here since joining LIV.

During his time with the PGA, Reed won nine times, including the Masters during the 2017-2018 season. His most recent win occurred during the 2020-21 campaign at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Regarding LIV golfers, Reed should be considered among the top contenders to take home a major title.
