With Brooks Koepka taking home the PGA Championship win, we turn our attention to the 2023 U.S. Open.
The tournament will occur from Thursday, June 15, to Sunday, June 18, at the Los Angeles Country Club. This venue hasn’t hosted a PGA Tour event since 1940. However, it hosted the Los Angeles Open five times from 1926-1940. This tournament is now known as the Genesis Invitational.
Consisting of 156 players, the 123rd U.S. Open is a 72-hole stroke play tournament.
Below, we’ll look at the players in the top 10 of the U.S. Open futures odds and give you betting tips for the next major.

U.S. Open Futures Betting Tips
Jon Rahm (+800)
Going with the chalk here, it’s hard to count Rahm out of any tournament. He had an uncharacteristically poor showing at the PGA Championship, finishing with a +7. Still, he’s been unbelievable this entire PGA TOUR season.
Since October 2022, Rahm has finished inside the top 10 in every tournament he’s played in except the Arnold Palmer Invitational (T-39), RBC Heritage (T-15), THE PLAYERS Championship (Withdrew), and most recently, the PGA Championship (T-50).
Look for Rahm to bounce back in a big way in Los Angeles for a chance to win another U.S. Open following his 2021 win.
Dustin Johnson (+3000)
Getting a bit deeper in the odds pool here, we’ll target a LIV player, Dustin Johnson. To be fair, since joining LIV, Johnson hasn’t played all that well in PGA showings, finishing +8 at the Masters and +9 at the PGA Championship.
On the LIV circuit, he’s played well, including a -17 at the LIV Golf Invitational Tulsa. While not the best measurement for potential success in the U.S. Open, Johnson still has something to offer.
Jordan Spieth (+2500)
It’s not too often you’ll get Spieth with odds like this and so low on the list. Since October 2022, Spieth has finished in the top 20 in eight tournaments. Over that span, he’s played in 14.
He ranks 20th on the PGA TOUR in scoring average at 70.128 and isn’t too far away from winning his first tournament of the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season.
Scottie Scheffler (+900)
Scheffler posted a -7 showing at the PGA Championship, tying for second with Viktor Hovland.
This season, Scheffler ranks inside the top three for the following stats:
Scoring Average: 68.839
Strokes Gained (Total): 2.490
Strokes Gained (Approach the Green): 1.009
Greens in Regulation Percentage: 74.15%
Scheffler has two wins this season and 10 top-10 finishes. Of these two wins, one of those includes THE PLAYERS Championship. While he hasn’t been as successful as last season, Scheffler’s performance thus far, including his second-place finish at the PGA Championship, shows that he will be a top competitor for Rahm for years to come.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see them go back and forth at the U.S. Open in inclement-free weather.
