2024 NHL Stanley Cup Odds: Avalanche and Hurricanes Are Early Favorites

The Las Vegas Strip might still be getting cleaned following the Vegas Golden Knights’ Stanley Cup championship parade, but WynnBET.com’s trading team has already released betting odds for the 2023-24 NHL season.

Interestingly enough, the Colorado Avalanche are the betting favorites with a price of +800 to win it all. The Avalanche won the Stanley Cup two years ago, but were upset in the opening round of last year’s playoffs.

The Carolina Hurricanes are second on the odds board at +1000 to win the whole thing. The Hurricanes haven’t hoisted the Stanley Cup since 2006, though they came close this past postseason when they lost in the conference finals.

After that, five teams are in a log jam on the table with +1200 odds to win the Cup. This group includes the Golden Knights, who are coming off their first championship in franchise history. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Edmonton Oilers, and New Jersey Devils are the other teams listed at +1200 at WynnBET’s online sportsbook.

A total of 16 teams are trading at 30/1 or shorter to win next year’s Stanley Cup, which includes 12 teams priced at 20/1 or shorter. The Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Arizona Coyotes, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks are all priced as the biggest long shots at 200/1 to win it all.

2024 NHL Stanley Cup Favorites

Colorado Avalanche (+1200)

For the second year in a row, Colorado opens as the betting favorite to win the Stanley Cup. The Avalanche are the only team listed in the three-digit range, giving them an implied probability of 11.11% of winning the championship.

The Avalanche went 51-24 last year to finish atop the Central division for the third consecutive season. They were upset by the Seattle Kraken in the opening round, which marked their shortest postseason run since 2018.

Carolina Hurricanes (+1000)

It is worth noting that Carolina is ahead of the +1200 pack with a value of 10/1 to win it all. This equates to an implied probability of 9.09% for the Hurricanes to win their second championship in franchise history.

Carolina has won its division in each of the last three years, advancing to the second round twice before last year’s conference finals run. The Hurricanes ultimately lost to the Florida Panthers, but it marked their deepest playoff run since 2009.

NHL Stanley Cup Defending Champs

Las Vegas Golden Knights (+1200)

After missing the playoffs in 2021-22, the Golden Knights won it all this summer. They have now made two Stanley Cup Final appearances in their six years as a franchise, and have plenty of staying power to continue to contend.
