Three Candidates to Consider for DPOY

Myles Garrett (+600) — I’m not usually one to advocate betting the favorite, but I’d be doing a disservice to the readers if I didn’t at least mention Garrett. Cleveland's superstar edge rusher has been knocking on the door of late, and seems poised to finally win the award this season. Garrett had the best PFF pass-rushing grade (92.7) of any edge rusher last year, and figures to be just as dominant this fall.

Chase Young (+3000) — It feels so much sweeter to cash a big ticket on a rising star, and Young could be that guy this year. Young has had two strong seasons since being drafted No. 2 overall by Washington. Young produced the fifth-best Pro Football Focus grade among all edge defenders in 2020 as a rookie. Young and his team are hoping to get back to that level in 2022.

Rashan Gary (+4000) — A popular preseason pick for this award and for good reason. Gary posted the fifth-best PFF grade among all edge defenders a year ago. He produced 10 sacks, 23 solo stops and two forced fumbles. The Packers are going to be a great team playing in a weak NFC North. It wouldn’t be surprising if Gary is able to pile up some stats to build a DPOY case this year.
