Best Bets for NHL Playoffs on May 4

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are heating up! The slate of Game 2s starts on Wednesday night as teams look to either even up the series or take a 2-0 series lead. Some say that these are the most important games of the series. Let's take a look at some NHL Picks for Wednesday's games with odds courtesy of WynnBET's online sportsbook.

Boston Bruins (+100) at Carolina Hurricanes (-120) - [Hurricanes lead 1-0]

The Hurricanes took Game 1 in a relatively convincing fashion. After sweeping the Bruins in the regular-season series, and only allowing one goal in three games, Carolina cruised to a 5-1 victory on Monday night at home. Antti Raanta was sharp in goal for the Hurricanes with rookie Seth Jarvis putting up a strong performance as well.

We're going to go back to the Hurricanes for Wednesday night's Game 2. They've been able to stifle the Bruins this season and that should continue on home ice.

NHL Picks: Hurricanes (-120)

Tampa Bay Lightning (+110) vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (-130) - [Maple Leafs lead 1-0]

The Maple Leafs took it to the two-time reigning Stanley Cup champions on Monday night. The Lightning wasted an early five-minute power play and never recovered. In fact, Toronto seemed to control play in that five minutes despite being on the penalty kill.

However, I expect the Lightning to bounce back tonight. Andrei Vasilevskiy has not lost two straight playoff games since 2019, when the Lightning were swept by the Blue Jackets. He's been tremendous after a playoff loss and the Lightning will even the series tonight.

NHL Picks: Lightning (+110)

St. Louis Blues (+105) vs. Minnesota Wild (-125) - [Blues lead 1-0]

The Blues continued their strong play against the Wild with a 4-0 shutout win in Game 1. These two rivals played a physical, tight-checking game that you typically see in the playoffs. While St. Louis took Game 1, and most of the season series, the Wild should not lose two straight games on home ice.

Minnesota was 31-8-2 at home this season while the Blues were 23-12-6 on the road. The Wild can't go to St. Louis down 2-0 in the series. They'll get the job done.

NHL Picks: Wild (-125)

Los Angeles Kings (+160) vs. Edmonton Oilers (-195) - [Kings lead 1-0]

The Kings pulled off the upset in Game 1 thanks largely due to some mistakes by Oilers goalie Mike Smith. He misplayed the puck late in the third period of a tie game, and that ended up being the game-winning goal in the 4-3 Kings victory. Edmonton has a lot of pressure on it after getting swept last year as the higher seed.

The Oilers need this game. Period. If they lose, they head to LA down 2-0 with six straight playoff losses. They'll show up on Wednesday night to even the series.
