Let’s play ball.
Opening Day for the 2023 MLB season has arrived, and we have a full slate of games scheduled for Thursday. From midday through the evening, America’s Pastime will take center stage and be on our television all day.
This serves as your first chance to yell about the new MLB rules, which includes a pitch clock and banning of infield shifts. More importantly, it is a chance to make some money by betting on several different markets at WynnBET. Let’s do just that.

Best Bets
Braves vs. Nationals Over 8 runs (+100) — It is still too early to make any guesses on how the rule changes will impact scoring, but we do know Washington starting pitcher Patrick Corbin went 6-19 with a 6.31 ERA in 31 starts last year. According to Statcast, he gave up a hard-hit percentage of 45% last year. He is also coming off a 1-3 clip with a 4.50 ERA in five Spring Training outings.
The Braves’ bats should get things going early and often against Corbin, but don’t be surprised if the Washington lineup is able to pick up some runs deep into the game. At a price of +100, we like the idea of betting on nine or more runs in this one.
Orioles vs. Red Sox Over 9 runs (-110) — The American League East is as loaded as ever, but don’t overlook the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox. They might not win this division, but both teams are capable of pushing anyone this summer.
For this game, we like the idea of betting on offense once again. The Orioles went 16-3 and scored the third-most runs (178) in the Grapefruit League, while the Red Sox produced a total of 164 runs. Boston’s lineup quietly ranked 12th in wRC+ last year, and might be flying a bit under the radar once again.
Expect both clubs to bring the offensive firepower on Thursday.
Mariners ML (-115) vs. Guardians — The Mariners ended a 21-year postseason drought last year, and expectations are even higher for this exciting ball club. After winning 90 games last year, can Seattle actually put some pressure on the Houston Astros at the top of the AL West?
It will take the Mariners starting out strong, as they opened last year with a 11-10 clip in April before going 10-18 in the month of May. Luis Castillo is expected to get the nod on Opening Day for Seattle after he whiffed 18 batters across 17 innings in Spring Training.
Bet on Castillo and Co. setting the tone for Seattle to start the new season.
