NFL Week 2 Best Bets From SGPN

After an incredible NFL Week 1 filled with upsets and come from behind victories and overtime games, NFL Week 2 is here! There are several intriguing matchups in Week 2 of the National Football League. Below are five NFL picks I like for the slate in NFL Week 2!

Miami Dolphins/Baltimore Ravens Under 44.5

The Miami Dolphins turned in a great defensive effort last week against the New England Patriots. The Dolphins defense limited the Patriots offense to 271 yards of offense. As a result, the Patriots scored only seven points. Further, Dolphins held the Patriots offense to five yards per play. The Baltimore Ravens defense was stellar in Week 1 holding Joe Flacco and the Jets offense to three points before Flacco threw a garbage-time touchdown. Yes, it was Joe Flacco the Ravens defense faced but they did their job containing the playmakers on the Jets offense.

In Week 2, I believe points will be at a premium once again for both teams. Ravens scored on two long touchdown passes last week and the Dolphins secondary has the players in the secondary to stay with Ravens receivers. Additionally, the Ravens rushing attack was severely limited last week by the Jets defense. Yes, they do get J.K. Dobbins is back but this will be his first game since returning from a torn ACL he suffered last season. I am not a believer is Tua’s arm either. Last week, he completed a tight window pass on 4th down that led to a Jaylen Waddle 42 yard touchdown pass. Both teams were limited to 5.2 yards per play last week. Lamar Jackson did not look like his explosive self-last week. Points will at a premium. I will take the Under.

Saints +125

Since Tom Brady joined the Tampa Buccaneers in 2020, he has struggled mightily against the New Orleans Saints. In fact, Brady is 0-4 in that span and are the Buccaneers have a point differential of -64 in those four games. Further, the Buccaneers are limited on offense. Star wide receiver Chris Godwin will miss this game for the Buccaneers and there are several question marks about the offensive line for the Buccaneers. Additionally, Brady has thrown a total of eight interceptions in those four games against the Saints.

The Saints did struggle for most of the game in their Week 1 come-from-behind victory against the Falcons. However, the Saints offense led by Jameis Winston and Michael Thomas was able to find a way to get the victory. The Saints are the healthier team and have the skill position players to push the ball down the field. Despite, the Buccaneers defense holding the Cowboys defense to only 3 points, I believe the Saints will be able to push the ball down the field and score points. The struggles will continue for Brady and the Buccaneers in this game. I love the Saints to get the outright victory.

Cardinals/Raiders Over 51.5

These two high-powered offenses will take the field in Las Vegas on Sunday afternoon. The Arizona Cardinals defense got shredded by the Chiefs offense last week allowing 488 yards of offense and 7.4 yards per play. Could this be an overreaction? Possibly. But the Cardinals secondary came in ranked one of the worst for this season and it showed against the Chiefs. The Raiders defense did their part against the high-powered Chargers offense last week holding them to 24 points.

However, the Cardinals offense is more than capable of putting up points led by Kyler Murray. The defense for the Cardinals will have their hands full this week having to defend one of the best wide receivers in the league, Davante Adams. Additionally, the Raiders also have one of the best tight ends in the league in Darren Waller to defend. I believe we will see points being scored in this non-conference game, I’ll take this game to get Over the total of 51.5 in NFL Week 2!

Seahawks +9

The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a huge upset against the Denver Broncos in Week 1. Geno Smith looked incredible in the first half for the Seahawks and due to questionable decision-making by the Broncos head coach, the Seahawks were able to get the victory. The 49ers played in the monsoon type of weather in Chicago and lost against the Bears.

This is way too many points for a 49ers team who will once again be without George Kittle this week. Since 2020, the 49ers are 4-7 straight up without Kittle. Further, they also lost their starting running back Elijah Mitchell to a knee injury. I have not seen a single reason yet why Trey Lance should be a nine-point favorite even if it is against the Seattle Seahawks. In three career starts, Lance is 1-2 straight up and 1-2 against the spread. The lone victory game last season against one of the worst teams in the league, the Houston Texans.

Offensively, the 49ers were limited to 4.9 yards per play, and the offense produced 331 yards of offense. The weather is calling for rain in Santa Clara. I expect both teams to establish the run. Rashaad Penny should have a big game for the Seahawks on the ground. I am going to continue to fade Trey Lance till he proves it to me. This is too many points for a 49ers team that has questions on offense. I believe they win the game, but within the nine points!

Packers -10

The Packers are coming off a Week 1 against the Vikings and the offense looked a bit lost without Davante Adams. The first throw of the game by Aaron Rodgers which could have been a touchdown was dropped by rookie wide receiver Christian Watson. Last season, the Packers were dominated in Week 1. The following week the Packers led by Aaron Rodgers dominated the Detroit Lions in their home opener. I expect the Packers to bounce back in NFL Week 2

We know the storyline of Aaron Rodgers dominating the Chicago Bears in his career. In fact, Rodgers is 22-5 straight up and 21-6 against the spread. We know about the famous words he said last year against the Bears of “I own you.” The Bears pulled off a Week 1 victory vs. the 49ers in a game where the weather conditions were filled with rain to say the least. Justin Fields made enough plays for the Bears and the defense did their part to pull off the 19-10 victory over the 49ers. Will this moment be too big for the Bears on Sunday Night Football in Lambeau Field? I believe the Packers will dominate this game on Sunday Night Football.
