2023 SEC College Football Betting Guide: Odds, Picks and Predictions for Each Team

The 2023 college football season is inching closer, with teams reporting for fall camp in the coming weeks. Summer will be gone in a blink, and football will take center stage every weekend once again this fall.

Earlier this week we looked at when college football starts this season and today we're kicking off a series of articles analysing the largest conferences.

A conference used to the spotlight in college football is the SEC, which has been the superior league for several years now. The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back national championships, and enter the year as preseason favorites to three-peat.

Of course, we can’t ever forget about Nick Saban’s Alabama squad. The Crimson Tide, who used to be the team to beat in the sport, are among the top contenders vying to knock off Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs.

But the best part about the SEC is that there are no weeks off during a 12-week season. Each team is talented and capable of rising to the top to contend for a conference crown, as we saw from LSU last year during Brian Kelly’s first season at the helm.

With the college football season just weeks away, let’s dive into the latest betting odds at WynnBET.com’s online sportsbook to identify the best betting angles for the 2023-24 campaign.

SEC Win Totals Best Bets

Auburn Under 6.5 wins (+110)

After going 5-7 and losing six of its last seven SEC battles, Auburn made a change at head coach by bringing in Hugh Freeze from Liberty. The Tigers will be fighting for bowl eligibility, as I have them projected right around six wins. They project to be a favorite in five games and will need to open the year 3-0 to have any chance of getting to seven victories. At +110 odds, I’m betting against it.

Georgia Over 11.5 wins (+115)

Taking the over on the highest win total isn’t normally the best idea, but the Bulldogs are in prime position to go undefeated once again this year. The Bulldogs project to be favored by more than two touchdowns in all but one game, a road test against the Tennessee Volunteers. A bet on the over is a bet on Georgia winning that game, which seems like the right choice given the team’s 19-1 clip over the last two years.

Vanderbilt Under 4 wins (-110)

Vanderbilt flirted with bowl eligibility in Clark Lea’s second second season, as the program’s 5-7 campaign was the best record it had posted since 2018. But that allows us to get better odds on fading the Commodores this year. I have Vanderbilt projected closer to three wins, as this team would need a big SEC upset to even push on this win total. And if a Week 3 road test against UNLV goes the other way, the Commodores could need multiple SEC victories to push on this win total.
